Encouraging Recycling Behaviours in the Global South

Waste being collected in shipping container

With the lack of proper waste management systems, poor recycling infrastructure, low human awareness and participation, the world is beginning to accept that the problem of plastic waste is a big one and it is high time we tackle it. While this change has been prevalent in more developed economies, the challenge of plastic waste remains understudied and understated in low infrastructure, low resources economies of the Global South.

TRANSFORM collaborated with the Busara Center for Behavioral Economics to study and increase recycling behaviours in the India and Kenya.
