Bolsiyo is a cash register app that helps micro-merchants digitise their operations in order to become more competitive.
Micro-merchants in Colombia provide local low-income communities with access to essential goods and services. However, many lack the right resources and education meaning they struggle to scale their businesses and increase profitability.
In response to this, Bolsiyo developed an app to enable micro-merchants to log their sales and expenses in the simplest way possible to make sure there is no money unaccounted for.
TRANSFORM’s support enabled development of an educational service to go alongside the app, the Bolsiyo Academy, which trains and empowers micro-merchants on how to effectively use the finance solutions in the app. It has also helped integrate several tools into the app, including Client Engagement, Operations, Money Transactions and Supply Management.
Bolsiyo currently supports 7,800 micro-merchants and aspires to support one in every five micro-merchants in Latin America. Unilever, the Global Solidarity Fund and EY will help Bolsiyo to realise its ambitions through the TRANSFORM programme in Colombia.
