Elevarm, an Indonesian agri-tech startup, tackles core productivity challenges in agriculture by producing affordable, high-quality organic inputs, including fertilisers, seeds, and bio-pesticides.
Farmers often depend on chemical fertilisers and pesticides that degrade soil, harm biodiversity, and exacerbate climate change. This reliance becomes costly as soil degradation increases the need for agrochemicals, creating a vicious cycle. While sustainable farming offers better outcomes, many farmers find it inaccessible due to cost concerns and limited support.
Elevarm’s vermicompost innovation transforms cow manure into nutrient-rich soil enhancers, promoting a circular economy by recycling agricultural waste. This approach rejuvenates soil, boosts land productivity, and advances sustainable agriculture.
With TRANSFORM’s support, Elevarm has enhanced production safety and invested in machinery to scale up its organic fertiliser production while maintaining consistent quality. The enterprise has also used TRANSFORM’s grant funding to research and diversify its material sources to include rejected vegetables and by-products from food processing.
For every tonne of organic fertiliser produced, Elevarm estimates it prevents approximately three tonnes of cattle manure and food waste from polluting the environment.
