The project will begin with a focus on healthcare centres, with the opportunity for scale up to other facilities such as offices, schools, markets and other public locations.
The impact enterprise
Bhumijo is an impact enterprise based in Bangladesh that provides complete Public Toilet Services including Planning, Design, Research, Construction and Maintenance. Their design and construction portfolio includes a range of projects from renovation to new construction at various scales. They manage public toilets and community toilets at various places of the country. Bhumijo have both private sector and government agencies as clients and partners.
The idea
Upgrade existing commodities in healthcare centres and hospitals with hand-touchless systems for operating toilets and handwashing facilities. This will help patients and doctors to reduce the risk of transmitting COVID-19 by touch.
The implementation
Bhumijo has developed a process with three key areas:
Project ideation
Working with local doctors to design a solution that ably addresses the challenges faced in hospitals and helps to protect health.
Infrastructure installation
Identifying and installing appropriate infrastructure that meets the needs of the hospital.
Maintenance
Ensuring the continued proper functioning of the hand-touchless hardware to allow for continued use and to guarantee the ongoing protection of users health.
